Needs Allow Full Access, so the keyboard can reach OpenAI.
Set up in 30 seconds
Open Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard and choose Rephrase.
Tap Rephrase and turn on Allow Full Access (needed only for OpenAI).
In any app, tap the globe key, type or select text, and tap Fix grammar or a tone.
Questions
Is Rephrase free?
Yes. Rephrase is free, with no account and no ads. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, it uses Apple's on-device model at no cost. iPhones without Apple Intelligence can use their own OpenAI key to make the app work.
Does Rephrase read everything I type?
No. It processes only the text you ask it to rewrite — the selected text, or the text around the cursor that iOS shares with the keyboard. Nothing is stored or sent to us. See the privacy policy.
Why does it ask for Full Access?
iOS asks keyboards for Full Access before they can use the network. Rephrase needs it only to reach OpenAI. Typing and Apple's on-device model work without it.
Which iPhones work?
Any iPhone on iOS 26 or later. Apple's on-device model needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or newer) with Apple Intelligence turned on. On other iPhones, add your own OpenAI key.
Only part of my text changed. Why?
iOS shares only the text near the cursor with keyboards. Select the text you want to rewrite first, then tap a button.
Which languages does it support?
Rephrase has an English (US) keyboard layout and is made for writing in English.
